FANCY: Jose Mourinho pays £816 a night for his suite at the Lowry Hotel

The news comes despite rumours the Man United boss was planning on moving out of his city centre bolthole.

The famously moody manager has been staying at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Salford.

And sources say he is delighted with the makeover his £816-a-night suite has been given.

The new look includes a fresh lick of paint plus new furniture and fittings.

The “Special One” pays for his Riverside suite out of his own pocket.

A source, said: “It’s not just Old Trafford where he can now find himself in the hot seat – the rooms have had new chairs and sofas put in.

"Jose only eats and sleeps here but it’s important we keep everyone happy.

"He has a few creature comforts which help him feel even more at home.

"And he can now get all comfy while gazing out of the window at the River Irwell.”

Mourinho has complained he gets little privacy as photographers lurk outside the hotel waiting for him to visit local restaurants.

He now prefers to eat at the Lowry most of the time.

Our source joked: “He’s always at training – it’s a wonder he’s even noticed the place has had a makeover.”

The air-conditioned suite has two entrances with a dining area that has enough space to entertain guests for dinner and meetings.

Last month, we revealed he’s been given the new nickname of “The Skinny One” after losing weight over the summer.

The 54-year-old slimmed down by keeping active at the Carrington training ground.

An insider said: “Jose puts so much effort into his sessions, both mentally and physically.

It’s hardly surprising. “It’s perhaps a little unfair to say he was gaining a pot-belly, as he is now a man in his 50s.

"The problem is living in a hotel hasn’t exactly been conducive to staying in tip-top shape.”
