Cristiano Ronaldo: I don’t want a new Real Madrid contract

Cristiano Ronaldo has denied he is seeking an improved contract with Real Madrid after losing 3-1 to Spurs in the Champions League.

The Portuguese forward has dismissed claims that he is demanding a wage parity in keeping with Lionel Messi and Neymar following the defeat at Wembley on Wednesday.

Reports had emerged of Ronaldo stalling his contract talks for a pay rise, after Neymar signing a lucrative deal with PSG after becoming the world’s record signing and then Lionel Messi recently penning a new deal at the Camp Nou.

But the striker refuted allegations that he was pressuring the Real Madrid for a raise.

Ronaldo scored the only goal at Wembley in his side’s 3-1 loss as they fell to defeat following a brilliant performance by Spurs forward Dele Alli.

"I am doing very well at Real Madrid. I have four years left on my contract and I don’t want to renew. I am fine,” he told beIN Sports via Goal after the match.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are a shadow of the side that won consecutive Champions League titles in the last two seasons. Despite heading into the fixture at Wembley as the reigning champions, Real Madrid were left second-best as the Lilywhites issued a dominant and impressive performance against the likes of Ronaldo and co.

Ronaldo remained confident that his side are able to return to winning ways, however. Madrid slipped to third La Liga after a shock defeat to Getafe on Sunday, leaving them eight points behind league leaders Barcelona.

"It is bad because we are losing and we are used to winning. It is a bad run,” Ronaldo added.

"It is not how we would want things, but football changes. It is a bad run but we want to change and I am sure we will change.

"We have a lot of time still to get better and I am convinced we can do so.”

Ronaldo leads as the Champions League’s top scorer this season with six goals, a contrast to his La Liga form where he has only scored once in six appearances. Madrid are now second in their group stage, trailing Spurs by three points with two games left.
