Casillas delivers optimistic assessment of being benched by Porto

Porto's coach Sergio Conceicao has decided to drop Iker Casillas to the bench in the last few games and the Spanish goalkeeper claimed that he can learn from that experience.

The first stretch of the season has been underwhelming for the Spanish shot-stopper, who insisted that being benched can prove beneficial for everyone.

"Every player ends up being on the bench, but it's good to learn from my teammates and understand the luck of being able to play," he told Canal Plus.

"A team isn't just eleven players and I like to train, improve myself and fight for my position.

"The competition is healthy and I will continue to fight to play."

Porto sit atop the Primeira Liga table and Casillas highlighted the qualities of his current coach who has assisted his team in an impressive start of the season.

"[Conceicao] is a competitive coach, with a strong and ambitious character," he noted.

"He knows Porto's need to win titles very well."
