Chelsea News: Luiz to Man Utd claim made, Fabregas talks Hazard, Conte on title race
Chelsea ace Cesc Fabregas is happy the Blues are not relying on Eden Hazard

Manchester United should be allowed to sign David Luiz from Chelsea this January if he is going to play as a defender for them.

That's the opinion of former Blues assistant Ray Wilkins who is not a fan of the Brazilian's work in the backline.

He told Sportingbet: "As far as I'm concerned, David Luiz can go to United tomorrow as a centre-half.

"If he goes as a holding midfielder, I wouldn't let him leave.

"David Luiz, as a centre-half, does not fit the requirements of a top level football club – he makes far too many errors.

"I don't think Jose Mourinho will have David. He wants to keep clean sheets and beat opposition one or two nil and with Luiz, he will struggle to do that."

Cesc Fabregas is confident Chelsea can perform without their talisman Eden Hazard.

"To know that the team is performing and winning without Eden really being involved is very good," he told the Evening Standard.

"We started the season without him and he didn't start against Swansea because he is the best player (and needed a rest).

"We have to cope with the situation. No-one can play every three days even if we want to.

"If you keep playing, you will keep carrying knocks so it is good to have a break sometimes and come back fresher."

Antonio Conte believes his Chelsea players can still catch Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

"I think it's right to believe, to trust," the Italian said at his pre-match press conference.

"It's right for the mentality, it's right because in every game we must have the right desire, the right will to fight to catch them up.

"At the same time it's very difficult in this moment for many reasons."
