St Mirren edge past Brechin

St Mirren got back to winning ways by beating rock-bottom Brechin 2-1 at Glebe Park.
Former Hearts striker Gavin Reilly raced clear after latching on to a hopeful ball forward after 20 minutes and he punished Brechin's leaky backline by notching his seventh strike of the season.
The hosts refused to collapse and drew level after 27 minutes thanks to the perseverance and strength of Isaac Layne, but Cammy Smith converted from the spot after he was fouled in the box to make it 2-1 after 64 minutes.
Victory kept St Mirren in second place, a point behind leaders Dundee United, while Brechin are still searching for their first league win of the season after losing 13 of their first 16 games.
