Nottingham Forest defender Eric Lichaj has this evening trolled Arsenal in brilliant fashion, after his brace helped the Championship outfit to knock the Gunners out of the FA Cup.

Matchup

Forest and Arsenal went head to head at the City ground in the 3rd round of the FA Cup on Sunday evening, with visitors Arsenal, who had won the competition in 3 of the last 4 years, understandably labelled as heavy favourites heading into the tie.

However, Arsene Wenger's team selection immediately raised eyebrows regarding how seriously the Frenchman was taking both the competition and his side's opposition on the day, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Laurent Koscielny, Hector Bellerin, Alexandre Lacazette and more all rested:

Not part of the script

And the lack of star-power on show for the Gunners proved detrimental on the day, as Nottingham Forest's gritty, quality-filled performance eventually saw the hosts run out deserved 4-2 winners.

While there were a number of star performers on show for Forest, none were more standout than full-back Eric Lichaj, who netted an incredible first-half brace in the clash.

First, the American stopper got on the end of a devilish whipped free-kick from Kieran Dowell to nod past the helpless David Ospina.

But Lichaj was far from finished there, as, on the stroke of half-time, he calmly took the ball down on his chest with his first-touch, before unleashing a gorgeous dipping volley into the far-top corner of the visitors' goal from just outside the box.

'Gunner'

It was a truly historic day for both Lichaj and Forest, with the defender having taken to social media this evening to showcase just how much his side's scalp meant to him, as well as aiming a cheeky dig at Arsenal:
