Raith stay top after draw with title rivals Ayr

Raith clung to top spot in Ladbrokes League One after Greig Spence's leveller secured a 1-1 draw at home against title rivals Ayr.

Prolific former Aberdeen player Lawrence Shankland gave Ayr a 34th-minute lead as they looked to reclaim pole position, having been knocked off the top when losing to Arbroath last week.

But it was not enough as Spence levelled just two minutes into the second half, meaning Raith remain one point clear in what looks to be a two-team race for automatic promotion.

Arbroath climbed a place into a distant third position after coming from behind to edge out Queen's Park 2-1, with Lewis McGhee's 12th-minute effort overturned by Gavin Swankie's leveller shortly before the break and David Gold's winner on the hour.

Alloa fell to fourth after losing 2-1 at East Fife. Mark Lamont put East Fife ahead in the 42nd minute, and although Adam Martin levelled midway through the second half, Mark Docherty pounced for a 75th-minute winner.

Bottom-of-the-table Forfar were 4-2 winners against an Albion Rovers side who finished with nine men after red cards for Mikey Hopkins and Alan Trouten.

Mark Millar's eighth-minute penalty for Forfar was followed by an equaliser from Gary Fisher, but goals from Michael Travis and Andy Munro gave Forfar a 3-1 cushion.

Jason Marr looked to have revived Albion hopes with his reply on the hour, but team-mates Hopkins and Trouten were both red-carded minutes later. Travis grabbed his second goal of the game in the 89th minute.

Stephen Okoh netted in each half and Angus Beith grabbed a 75th-minute winner as Stranraer were 3-2 victors in a mid-table clash at home against Airdrieonians. Dale Carrick and Willis Furtado were on target for the visitors.
