The Reds received £142m for the playmaker earlier this month as Coutinho finally got his dream transfer.
And while he did push for the switch, the Brazilian is thankful for the opportunity and experience gained at Anfield.
Liverpool fans appreciated the talent he brought to the team, especially this season as Coutinho showed professionalism amid Barcelona's ongoing interest.
One man in particular he hailed was Red legend and Under-18s coach Steven Gerrard, who admitted Liverpool will sorely miss the 25-year-old.
Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool for £142m
"I had some experiences at Liverpool that were very important for me in terms of growing and learning," Coutinho told Barcelona's official website.
"I learnt a lot and I hope that things go well here.
"I'm going to work very hard to meet the expectations that there are for me on the pitch and in training.
"When I talk about Steven Gerrard, I always do so with special affection, because he was a global idol.
"When I arrived there I looked at him and saw that he was a normal person like me and like everyone else.
"I learned a lot from him and I saw what he was like; very normal and a great player. I learnt at lot from him.
"Luis Suarez is a great player and has shown that to the world.
"We were very happy playing together and we're friends.
"There were also many people at Liverpool who helped, for example other Brazilian players like Lucas Leiva who was very important to me."
Liverpool could face Barcelona in the latter stages of the Champions League this term, but Coutinho would be ineligible to play having represented the Reds in the competition already.
