Former Man Utd playmaker Shinji Kagawa rescued a point for Borussia Dortmund at Hertha Berlin
Shinji Kagawa rescued a point for Borussia Dortmund as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Hertha Berlin.
The former Manchester United forward cancelled out Davie Selke's early second-half opener on Friday.
Dortmund moved up to third in the Bundesliga but are still 14 points behind leaders Bayern Munich while Hertha remain 11th.
Without him Dortmund struggled to create chances even if Kagawa headed over while off balance during a forgettable first half.
Hertha also failed to shine but lifted the monotony just 42 seconds into the second half when Selke converted Valentino Lazaro's cross from seven yards.
The hosts should have doubled their lead after 62 minutes when former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou beat Thomas Kraft but, with the ball rolling in, Ondrej Duda tapped in from an offside position.
And Hertha were made to pay nine minutes later when Jadon Sancho crossed for Kagawa to nod in at the far post.
