Plymouth continue red-hot form with AFC Wimbledon victory

Plymouth continued their rich vein of form with a 4-2 victory over AFC Wimbledon at Home Park.

The Pilgrims took the lead after 16 minutes when Carey charged down a Callum Kennedy clearance before calmly slotting past George Long.

The visitors hit back thanks to Lyle Taylor in the 37th minute after a great defence-splitting pass from full-back Barry Fuller was expertly put away from the Dons striker.

Plymouth regained the lead through an unlikely source as David Fox drilled a volley into the roof of the net for his first league goal since March 2016.

Argyle increased their lead when a Fox free-kick was parried to Ryan Taylor, who tapped in from close range just before the break.

Taylor grabbed his second of the night to reduce the deficit in fortuitous fashion after a defensive mix-up saw Sonny Bradley’s attempted clearance hit the striker and roll into the net.

However, Plymouth restored their two-goal when Ruben Lamieras latched onto a long ball before slotting home to make it 4-2, with home goalkeeper Remi Matthews denying Taylor his hat-trick with a late penalty save.
