Simeon Jackson and Mallik Wilks to miss out for Grimsby

Caretaker Grimsby boss Paul Wilkinson will be without strikers Simeon Jackson and Mallik Wilks for Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Exeter.

The pair suffered hamstring injuries during last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Cambridge and both are set to be sidelined for three to four weeks.

Midfielder Mitch Rose will return to the squad after completing the three-match ban he incurred after being sent off six minutes into the 3-0 defeat at Yeovil on January 30, and he will be joined by veteran defender Danny Collins, back from a head injury, and midfielder Siriki Dembele.

Wilkinson, whose side has not won in 13 outings, made three changes for the Cambridge game with fit-again goalkeeper James McKeown, Reece Hall-Johnson and Jamille Matt replacing Ben Killip, Martyn Woolford and Wilks.

Exeter manager Paul Tisdale is likely to travel with much the same squad as he used for Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at Crewe.

Tisdale made five changes at the Alexandra Stadium in the wake of the 1-0 home defeat by Mansfield, and got his reward when Jayden Stockley clinched victory at the death.

Defender Pierce Sweeney and striker Liam McAlinden are not expected to make the trip as they continue to battle groin injuries, while Dan Seaborne did not figure in the 18 at Crewe either.

However, Jordan Storey will hope to return from a two-game absence after being caught in the face by Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa on February 10.
