No one can believe what happened during Spurs v Rochdale

VAR

Tottenham faced off against Rochdale at Wembley on Wednesday evening in their FA Cup replay and no shock was expected but everyone was wrong.

That is because the clash was one of the most interesting, crazy and confusing that you could possibly have had on a Wednesday evening.

It all started when Erik Lamela scored in the first five minutes of the game, or so everyone thought he had.

Referee Paul Tierney pulled the decision back though after contact from the Video Assistant Referee.

They informed him that the decision should be overruled and that the goal should be disallowed and we were back to 0-0.

Though, Son Heung-min gave Spurs the lead with little doubt and the Londoners had the lead after all.

That wasn’t to be the last of the drama though, far from it.

Penalty

Spurs were also awarded a penalty in which they could have doubled their lead and probably kill the tie.

Though, despite Son Heung-min scoring the resulting penalty, the goal was disallowed and the player booked.

While it wasn’t entirely clear why, it looks to be the players run-up that lead to the referee taking the penalty away from them.

That stunned all football fans including the Tottenham fans but tension soon raised a boiling point in the ground.

That is because Rochdale went on to equalise through Humphrys!

Not only did the lower league side have a foothold back in the game, it all come from the decision to disallow Son’s penalty.

Rochdale even went on to hit the post before the end of the first half which had Spurs fans in disbelief.

Though, they weren’t the only ones.
