Anthony Wordsworth could return after calf trouble in Southend’s League One clash with Walsall on Saturday.
The midfielder has been sidelined since January but featured for Southend Under-23s at Millwall earlier this week, in a match that was abandoned after 65 minutes due to snow.
Southend will hope Michael Kightly will be available again after hamstring trouble.
Josh White is also bidding to return after a hamstring injury, with John White battling an ankle problem.
Walsall will have to do without vice captain Joe Edwards, who will miss the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury.
Julien Ngoy is expected to continue up front after netting in the 2-1 defeat to Peterborough.
Amadou Bakayoko will also come into contention for a start, with Florent Cuvelier an option in midfield.
Walsall will be seeking their first win away from home in the league since November 25.
