MARCUS RASHFORD may have been the star of the show in yesterday's game, but Manchester United's golden boy didn't forget to show his appreciation on Mother's Day.

The 20-year-old Manchester native, cheekily shared a snap with his mum online, in which she could be seen holding his player of the match trophy.

It's  not the first time he has shown his appreciation for his mum, who raised him single-handedly.

The 20-year-old has splashed the cash on a house in a leafy suburb of Manchester.

United's players were out in force, hailing their mums as their heroes on Mother's Day.

Defender Chris Smalling also took to twitter to share a snap of his mother and brother.

Following yesterday's result for the Red Devils, Jesse Lingard appeared to be enjoying the special day with his mum.

He called her his 'Queen' on twitter and shared a picture of the two of them together.

Jordan Henderson may have been disappointed with yesterday's result, but he was another footballer who took to social media to celebrate his mum.

The Liverpool captain shared a cute throwback picture, with his arm around his mother, where he was rocking a striking waistcoat.

Fans were quick to highlight a striking resemblance to a young David Beckham.

Jermain Defoe shared a picture of his mum and himself suited and booted.

The kind-hearted footballer thanked her for all her hard work and support, from the start.

While Arsenal star Jack Wilshere, whose side silence Troy Deeney today,  celebrated two important women in his life - his mum and his wife.

He also shared pictures of his missus' blossoming bump, as they prepare to become parents in May.

In a fitting tribute to the women that have supported their careers, Ajax players held their mum's hands and led them out onto the   replacing mascots to celebrate Mother's Day.

The traditional pre-match walk on saw the Dutch giants clutch a bunch of flowers in one hand, and their Mum in another, as they walked out to rapturous applause.
