Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben expected to extend their Bayern Munich contracts

Bayern Munich's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery are expected to extend their contracts at the end of the season.

Bayern secured their sixth consecutive, and 27th overall, Bundesliga title with victory against Augsburg on Saturday.

The club's management have hailed the attacking pair of Ribery and Robben, both of whom see their current contracts expire this summer, as "outstanding players."

The champions' CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge praised the "tremendous success" the club have enjoyed since both players joined their squad. When asked by Sport Bild if they would still be playing for Bayern next season he said, "there are very little arguments against a renewal."

Rummenigge added: "Since they are here, we have celebrated huge successes. They were always there, and we know that correctly. We said we're doing it at the right time, it's agreed with both. The key is how they play. And both play first-class."

Ribery and Robben certain of place in Bayern history books

The all-conquering wide duo have been consistently excellent for the German giants and have amassed a plethora of team and individual honours over their glittering careers in Bavaria.

Ribery, who came third behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2013 Ballon d'Or awards, has been described by France legend Zinedine Zidane as the "jewel of French football." The winger has won eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern in total.

Robben was a key player in the club's historical treble-winning 2012/13 season, scoring the decisive goal in the final against Borussia Dortmund, in which he was also named Man of the Match.

The Bavarians have the opportunity to secure another treble this season as they are still in contention in the Champions League and the DFB Cup. Bayern Munich's next game is against Sevilla in the Champions League quarter-final second leg. They lead the tie 2-1 on aggregate.
