AFC Fylde beat struggling Torquay to maintain promotion push

Jordan Tunnicliffe scored twice as AFC Fylde kept their promotion charge on track with a fourth straight win in a 3-1 victory at Torquay.
The Gulls went ahead in the fifth minute from the penalty spot when Zaine Francis-Angol was penalised for a foul and Brett Williams sent Jay Lynch the wrong way.
Jack Muldoon brought the visitors level in the 24th minute when he fired home from close range after Danny Rowe’s initial shot had been blocked after a free-flowing move involving Sam Finley and Lewis Montrose had opened up Torquay.
And just three minutes later the Coasters were ahead when Tunnicliffe was left unmarked to head Finley’s corner into the net.
Tunnicliffe made sure of victory 12 minutes from time when he headed home from close range from Simon Grand’s cross into the box.
