Mikkelsen the difference for Dundee United
Posted Sunday, April 15, 2018 by PA
Dundee United had a fast start to thank for their 1-0 home win over Falkirk which kept them on track for a promotion play-off place.
Thomas Mikkelsen scored the decisive goal after only seven minutes, turning home from close range following a cross from Willo Flood.
Neither side really threatened to add to the score until the 77th minute when Louis Longridge pounced on a loose ball and raced clear on goal, but Deniz Mehmet was quick off his line to make the block.
At the other end Paul McMullan should have made the points safe, only to shoot wide in space at the back post.
But it did not prove a costly miss as the fourth-placed hosts established a five-point cushion over Greenock Morton.
