Hill hails Rochdale win at Peterborough

Rochdale boss Keith Hill admitted captain Ian Henderson had a huge impact on their season – in two different ways.
The Dale skipper grabbed the only goal – his 20th of the season – to earn victory at Peterborough, a result which clawed his side to within a point of safety.
Henderson struck in the 16th minute but was then sent off early in the second half for a shocking challenge on Gwion Edwards – an offence which means he now faces a three-game suspension.
Keeper Josh Lillis made a series of smart saves after Dale were reduced to 10 men, denying Edwards and substitute Danny Lloyd with the pick of his stops.
Edwards also saw a 72nd-minute strike incorrectly ruled out for offside according to Posh boss Steve Evans, while Dale were denied when Calvin Andrew headed against the bar.
Hill said: “We have a six-game season to stay up and it’s a great way to start it.
“The sending-off could have really derailed us, but we showed so much heart and it was a proud moment for me to win the game.
“‘Hendo’ is an honest and committed lad. He was trying to stop his opponent and I’m not sure whether he got it wrong. I’d have to look at it again.
“Potentially there is a big impact on us in the next three games, but we’ll need to see if it is worth trying to get the red card rescinded if there is a serious error of judgement from the officials, but I’m not too sure whether there is.
“The officials did make some strange decisions and I don’t know how we weren’t given two penalties ourselves.
“But we can’t feel sorry for us if we have Ian missing. We have to find a different way to get results.”
Posh boss Evans claimed his side were “robbed” and said: “We played well in spells and created enough chances to win far more than just one game.
“I don’t mean half-chances either – I’m talking clear-cut, gilt-edged opportunities – but we failed to put the ball in the net.
“Gwion’s goal was clearly onside, though, and that’s another big debacle which gone against us after the red card at Plymouth last weekend.
“Keith is an honest man and he’ll know Rochdale have nicked a big result. Let’s be honest, they’ve robbed us but we won’t get down – we’ll get in the trenches and we’ll fight.
“We’re three points off the play-offs with four games to go so our season is far from over. It’s going to be tough with the fixtures we have left, but everyone knows this club never does things the easy way!”
