MANCHESTER CITY players hit the pub in Cheshire after being crowned Premier League champions.

Captain Vincent Kompany downed a Guinness in a bar with John Stones, Kyle Walker and Fabian Delph in Hale.

Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, played golf then celebrated winning the title as neighbours United suffered a shock 1-0 loss to West Brom.

The Manchester City boss had a round of 18 holes with European No 1 Tommy Fleetwood at Sandiway Golf Course in Cheshire.

Guardiola claimed his first league crown in England thanks to a Jay Rodriguez header at Old Trafford.

Delighted City skipper Kompany said: "I'm proud of the team and everyone involved. It's a difficult achievement."

And Kompany has urged City to build on their title triumph.

The Belgian added: "I've never been able to retain a title and I want to see if this team has it to be even more successful.

"I want to see how we react now next season.

"This is not a dynasty, it is one title. We are all delighted but there is a lot more to do to unlock our full potential.

"Everyone that plays under him will have had success because of him, because he has the ability to unlocks the full potential.

Kompany, Stones, Delph and Walker celebrated their title triumph by supping a few pints at the The Railway in Hale — a meeting place for UNITED fans.

The Man City manager had a pep in his step after his men were crowned champions

That was not before he FaceTimed Kevin De Bruyne once the whistle had blown at Old Trafford.

Staff at the pub, which is also popular with stars of hit Manchester soap Coronation Street, won't know what hit them when City's millionaires walked through the door.

What's more, it's more commonly known as a haunt for fans of the OTHER team in Manchester.

Ex-Red Devils Bryan Robson and Denis Irwin are known to frequent, and it's fair to say some of the locals weren't too happy with the blue half rocking in.

Dozens of City fans piled in to join them and get selfies before Guinness-drinking Kompany and his pals left with Walker picking up the bill for the foursome.

The group then went to burger joint Morley's, before popping into Hale Wine Bar, where they were joined by Bernardo Silva.

Word soon got out that City's finest were in the bar, and around 50 of the club's fans crammed in to get some photos with their heroes.

It led to security ushering the players out into black SUVs just in case things got out of hand.

Boss Guardiola was in jubilant mood after his team ended their run of three straight defeats by winning 3-1 at Tottenham on Saturday night.

Speaking then, Pep said: "It is important to build up the club because City is not like the big clubs in England who have a big history behind them."

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are Premier League champions

Star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne took to social media to say: "Unbelievable season for us. Very happy to call us champions this year."

Left-back Benjamin Mendy was a little more industrial with his language and tweeted: "WE ARE F****** CHAMPIONS @ManCity congratulations boys !!!!!!"

City have dominated the domestic season, losing just one league game against Liverpool in January, and remain on course to break Chelsea's points record of 95 in 2004-05.

But even they would have expected United to have got the job done against a Baggies side cut adrift at the foot of the division.

But Jose Mourinho's men turned in a woeful display, to such an extent thousands of fans trudged out of the ground unable to stand watching as their side gifted City the crown.

Their success this season has seen them crowned champions of England for the fifth time in their history, having won the Football League in 1937 and 1968.

And unlike their first Premier League triumph courtesy of the dramatic Sergio Aguero last-gasp winner in 2012, this was achieved while the City players were relaxed on a day off.

Captain Vincent Kompany wasted little time taking to Twitter to share his delight.

He wrote: "Champions!!!!! What a great feeling!! So happy to be able to share another trophy with our amazing fans."

Though City have failed in their attempt to win an unprecedented quadruple this season, it has still been a campaign of huge success.

They won the first trophy of the Guardiola era when they lifted the Carabao Cup by beating Arsenal.

A shock defeat to Wigan sent them crashing out of the FA Cup before the heartache of losing to Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
