The club's record signing has run out of chances at Old Trafford despite his outstanding second-half performance against Manchester City recently.

Mourinho has given the green light for Pogba to be sold, along with various other players who have do not feature in his plans for next season and beyond.

Funds raised by selling Pogba, who was signed for £89m two years ago, would be reinvested in United's squad which is in need of a huge summer overhaul.

The Daily Mail have revealed that the prospect of Pogba leaving the club moved a step closer since Pep Guardiola recently let slip that the star was offered to City in January.

The midfielder's relationship with Mourinho has soured this season and the 25-year-old was hauled off once again during Sunday's home defeat to West Brom.

Pogba has completed the full 90 minutes in just four of his last 11 games.

The Frenchman has struggled to fit into Mourinho's system and performances like his man-of-the-match display in the Manchester derbyhavebeen few and far between.

Mourinho was reportedly furious with his side for their poor collective performance which led to their 1-0 home against to West Brom.

The Portuguese manager is set to wield the axe for tomorrow's game with bournemouth and the crunch FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham on Saturday.

It remains to be seen whether Pogba will be one of those to be culled, but Mourinho has repeatedly proved he has no fear of dropping big name players for big games.

"If I play a player against Bournemouth and the player is phenomenal, he plays the semi-final," the former Real Madrid boss said.

"It's an opportunity for people to play and to try to get a place in the team for Spurs.

"Some of the guys that played today (against West Brom) don't have a place in that team."

Pogba is by far the biggest name on a list that the Daily Mail report also includes Anthony Martial, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind.
