Derby to assess fitness of duo ahead of Middlesbrough game

Derby manager Gary Rowett will assess the fitness of Andreas Weimann and Kasey Palmer before naming his side to face Middlesbrough at Pride Park.

Weimann (shoulder) and Palmer (knee) have not taken part in every training session this week, but Rowett is hopeful the pair will be available.

Rowett could be tempted to make changes regardless after back-to-back defeats, with captain Richard Keogh potentially returning to the side.

Keogh has not featured since the 4-1 home defeat to Sunderland but played for the under-23 side against West Ham on Monday.

Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis will not risk Patrick Bamford after the striker’s worrying injury against Bristol City.

Bamford was carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital following a nasty fall after colliding with City defender Aden Flint.

And although Pulis said at the time Bamford was fine and even joked about winding him up for “being soft”, the club are taking no chances with the play-offs potentially around the corner.

Stewart Downing and Ben Gibson have missed training this week but Pulis is hoping the pair will be available.
