Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool

Saturday night saw one of the greatest Champions League finals ever take place.

Liverpool travelled to Kiev after a fantastic European campaign in which they beat Roma and Manchester City.

Real Madrid, as usual, were on hand ready to spoil the party and that is exactly what they did.

Liverpool's hero, Mohamed Salah, was taken off injured during the first half and the match never looked the same.

Loris Karius made two horrific blunders either side of Gareth Bale's incredible bicycle kick to give Los Blancos their thirteenth Champions League title.

It is up for debate as to whether Manchester United had a successful season.

The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League behind arch rivals Manchester City and lost the FA Cup final to a struggling Chelsea side.

United were knocked out of the Champions League in the last 16 by Sevilla and perhaps under performed.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes said:

"It shows how far United have fallen when our whole season rests on Liverpool losing."

Nonetheless, Gary Neville, another legend from the Class of 92 felt rather differently about last night's result.

Neville had seen City win the league, Chelsea win the FA Cup and Liverpool winning the Champions League would have been too much to take.

After the match, Neville took to Twitter to alter the words of Liverpool fans' favourite song "Allez, Allez, Allez".

Neville's chant has a rather different tone to the one that the Liverpool fans have been singing non-stop for months now.
