Like many of his Real Madrid colleagues, Isco has admitted his surprise at Zinedine Zidane's decision to resign as coach. With nothing but good memories of the Frenchman's triumphs on the European stage, Isco now eagerly awaits the club's decision on the next man in the dugout.
"I was surprised by Zidane['s decision]," he told reporters at Spain's pre-World Cup training camp.
"It was something we didn't expect and it was sudden.
"He has made his decision and we are very proud to have won three Champions League titles with him. Now the club has to decide who comes next."
Likening Zidane's control over his future to Cristiano Ronaldo's current situation, Isco stated his hopes that the winger makes the opposite call and opts to stay in Madrid.
"[Ronaldo's situation] is similar to Zidane's," he noted.
"It is Cristiano who has to make the decision to continue, whether he wants to or not. It is in his hands. I hope he stays because he gives us a lot."
