Jose Mourinho makes big deal decision because of Mohamed Salah
Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho will not let Anthony Martial join a rival

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho will reportedly continue to rebuff Anthony Martial offers amid fears the Frenchman could emulate Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Manchester United boss Mourinho has clashed repeatedly with Martial throughout his two years at Old Trafford.

The 55-year-old angered his France superstar by stripping him of his No 9 shirt in 2016, handing it to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The relationship between the Manchester United duo appeared back on track last term but, after Alexis Sanchez signed from Arsenal in January, Martial’s form has waned.

He already wants to leave the club with his agent recently saying: “After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.

“There are lots of factors, and right now it’s too early to talk about them.

“Manchester United want Anthony to extend his deal and do not want him to leave but we have not reached an agreement for several months.

“I think that when Manchester United, the most powerful club in the world, do not find an agreement after eight months of negotiations then they do not really want to keep such an important player in their squad. That’s why this decision has come – it’s a well-thought-out decision.”

Yet the Manchester Evening News say the Red Devils are reluctant to let Martial jump ship.

So far, Tottenham and Chelsea have appeared frontrunners for his signature with Juventus also eyeing a transfer.

But United fear him emulating Salah, who proved Mourinho wrong at Liverpool last term.

The Egypt international signed for Chelsea in January 2015 but failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho then ostracised Salah, loaning him to Fiorentina before he joined Roma permanently just months after his departure.

United’s hierarchy still reportedly feel that Martial has the talent to be a huge Old Trafford hit.

But, should he leave them no choice but to sell him, then United will be tough negotiators.

They reportedly do not want to do what Chelsea did with Salah - selling him cheap - yet whether Martial forces their hand remains to be seen.
