Salah has been rewarded with a lucrative new deal after a stunning debut season at the club.

They will also hope that the former Chelsea and Roma attacker penning a contract extension will also ensure none of Europe's big guns come calling this summer to try to lure him away from Anfield.

The new deal does not include a release clause.

Salah, 26, signed for the Reds last summer in a deal rising to £36m from Serie A side Roma.

The Egypt star netted 44 goals in a remarkable campaign that also saw him pick up individual awards including the PFA Player of the Year and Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year gongs.

Kop boss Jurgen Klopp said: "I think this news can be seen for what it is; rewarding a person who performed and contributed greatly for the team and the club last season.

"It demonstrates two things very clearly also - his belief in Liverpool and our belief in him.

"We want world-class talent to see they have a home at Anfield where they can fulfil all their professional dreams and ambitions - we are working hard together to achieve this.

"When someone like Mo Salah commits and says this place is my home now, it speaks very loudly I think.

"Equally, our commitment to him says we see his value and want him to grow even more and get even better within our environment.

"The key thing to remember is the best thing about Mo is that he never sees himself as being more important than the team or anyone else within it. He recognises his teammates and this club helped him achieve individual success last season. He sees the individual awards come because he is part of something bigger that is special.

"Mo reflects where we are as a team, I think. Last season was special with many special moments - but we want more.

"We want to be more successful and achieve more together - as the supporters sang so loudly, 'we're never gonna stop'. This has to be the attitude individually and collectively."

Liverpool have moved quickly to enhance Salah's terms as well as ensuring his long-term future at the club.

Spanish giants Real Madrid were just one club linked with making a move for the goal-hungry forward this summer.

But this move by the Reds reaffirms their stance that their new star man will be going nowhere in 2018.

Salah's stunning season inspired Liverpool to reach the Champions League final before it ended in disappointment with the Egyptian also picking up a serious shoulder injury in the Kiev decider against Real.

But the Reds feel that Salah signing a new deal proves they are going in the right direction and will send a message out across Europe.
