Dejan Lovren comes out fighting

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren may be on his holidays right now, but the Croatian World Cup star is defending his team mates on Instagram in an emphatic manner.

A Liverpool fan page on Instagram called "anfieldclub._" has come under attack from Lovren after criticising goalkeeper Loris Karius.

In recent days, "anfieldclub._" has been celebrating the signing of Alisson and lamenting the poor performances of the German goalkeeper.

For example:

This is the last time I’m going to comment on the Karius issue since we seriously need to stop talking about the same old thing and move on. I don’t hate Karius as a person. I just hate his recent performances since it affects my team. But it doesn’t mean I don’t support him. I support every Liverpool player. What I said about him “not being worthy of wearing the LFC shirt” was a bit too far since I need to be careful of what I say on social media so i apologise for that. But now I’ve realised that we need to look forward and stop dwelling on the past. New season ahead and everything’s looking extremely exciting. Let’s stop the hate and march on to support our team with full force this season. Lovren: "Shame on you how you treat our player"

These days, pretty much every Premier League footballer is social media savvy, although some do not run their own accounts.

There seems little doubt that Lovren does, as he has responded to "anfieldclub._" in defence of Karius.

You'll Never Walk Alone?

Ultimately, Liverpool fans and players can wonder whether all their supporters truly mean the club's slogan "You'll Never Walk Alone"?

Sure, Karius made some horrendous errors in the Champions League final, which he will likely never recover from.

But, Liverpool fans should get behind all their players and it is refreshing to see Lovren make such a public statement.

After all, Lovren has been through this sort of thing himself during his time at Liverpool…
