Pep Guardiola makes big Unai Emery tactical revelation

Emery replaced Arsene Wenger at Arsenal after two years with PSG in France.

He comes with a wealth of pedigree from Spain and Guardiola is a big fan.

"Unai is a work-ethic guy," Man City boss Guardiola said on the Sky Sports Premier League Launch Show.

"He knows absolutely everything for the opponents. He achieved something unique in European football, three Europa Leagues in a row.

"He handles so good in PSG, was unlucky with 4-0 and Barcelona and that I think is when he marked his spirit a little bit in PSG, but he made a good job.

"He's a top, top manager, it will be tough. It's a good challenge for all the managers and for me to challenge him here in England will be a good challenge for me."

And Guardiola also revealed an interesting detail on the way Emery will set up.

When asked if Emery would play defensively Guardiola said: "No Unai is not going to play this way. 4-2-3-1."

Guardiola's City face Arsenal on Sunday on the opening week of the Premier League season.

City are defending champions and big favourites to win the title again but Guardiola expects a lot of challengers.

And Jamie Carragher thinks City have the quality to build a dynasty.

"I think that could be a fear for the rest of the Premier League," he said.

"The great thing over the last few years is there have been different winners.

"I think we could be at the start of an era like Manchester United had.

"Looking at the points they got, I don't see City doing that again, that would be virtually impossible but I think if you used to get 90 points, that was an absolute guarantee of winning the Premier League, I think you'll have to go 90 plus.

"And that's a tall ask for the rest of the league. I think City could possibly drop 10 points and still win it."
