Grimsby midfielder Mitchell Rose will miss the visit of League One Rochdale as he begins a three-match ban.
Rose was sent off against Macclesfield and manager Michael Jolley has decided against an appeal.
Akin Famewo and Andrew Fox are doubts and Harry Cardwell remains in rehabilitation with a foot injury.
Striker Elliott Whitehouse (knee) is expected to miss most of the season.
Dale manager Keith Hill has suggested he will field a strong side for the match.
Hill is eager for a cup run and is happy with the condition of his squad so may not make major alterations to his team.
At 38, striker Aaron Wilbraham could be one of those in line for a rest, bringing Calvin Andrew into the equation.
Kgosi Ntlhe, Andrew Cannon and Oliver Rathbone are also angling for action.
