Shaun McWilliams remains a doubt for Northampton ahead of the visit of Cambridge.
The 20-year-old midfielder has missed the last two matches after he sustained a hamstring injury during the season opener against Lincoln.
Boss Dean Austin made nine changes for the midweek Carabao Cup game against Wycombe, which the Cobblers lost on penalties.
He gave debuts to goalkeeper Lewis Ward and striker Junior Morias while right-back Shay Facey made his return from injury.
Jabo Ibehre is set to return for Cambridge.
The 35-year-old striker was rested for the cup defeat by Newport after playing the full 90 minutes against Notts County on Saturday.
Harrison Dunk, Paul Lewis, Greg Taylor, Jevani Brown and David Forde will all be assessed.
David Amoo came off the bench against County and should be back in the starting line-up.
