Ryan Lowe asks for patience from Bury fans after last-gasp Forest Green draw

Bury boss Ryan Lowe wants supporters to look on the bright side after securing a late point at home to 10-man Forest Green.

Will Aimson thumped home a dramatic stoppage-time leveller to cancel out Christian Doidge’s first-half opener.

However, the turning point of the match came when Gavin Gunning was dismissed for a foul on Gold Omotayo with 14 minutes remaining.

Bury threw everything they had at the Gloucestershire outfit in search of an equaliser and their numerical advantage told with Aimson heading home in the first minute of added time.

However, Lowe, who was appointed on a permanent basis in the summer, later encouraged the club’s supporters to keep sticking with the club – who have picked up four points from their first three matches.

“We are disappointed to be honest, we came off the plan we entitled to do and I’ve just said to the boys ‘it’s early doors and we’ve set the bar high at this football club’.

“We will address it, after our chances early on, we want to be winning games by high scorelines, but it wasn’t to be today.

“Those fans know what they want, they have set the bar high for us but they need to stick with us.

“The lads work their socks today, I heard a few boos from our fans – that gets to me. But we have to be patient.

Rovers took the lead through Doidge’s thumping header in the first-half after connecting with Carl Winchester’s cross to power into the top left corner.

However, Gunning’s red card changed the complex of the game and Bury salvaged a late point through Aimson.

Forest Green boss Mark Cooper turned his attention to referee John Busby, who he feel made a mistake in Gunning’s dismissal.

Cooper said: “The red card takes away any chance we had of getting another goal, he got booked in the first half and the referee realised he made a mistake, and it has cost us today.

“The players know today that individually and collectively, we were not good enough.

“The decisions that we made today where all wrong, I know that, the players know that, and we know that this performance won’t get you results, you can’t keep getting lucky, that’s impossible.

“The goal wasn’t a fluke, one player didn’t pick his man up, they all have a man to pick up, and the man who scored wasn’t picked up and it’s because of us not doing our jobs, but I’m over the moon we got a point.”
