Gillingham vs Sunderland - Eaves set to lead Gillingham attack against Sunderland
Posted Tuesday, August 21, 2018 by PA
Tom Eaves is likely to lead the forward line again when Gillingham host Sunderland in League One on Wednesday.
Eaves struck a stoppage-time consolation goal as Gillingham went down 2-1 at Walsall at the weekend, and should retain his place despite competition from the likes of Navid Nasseri and Liam Nash.
Elliot List is a doubt with shoulder concerns, while Josh Rees has an ankle complaint.
Dean Parrett should also miss out due to a hamstring injury.
Sunderland’s lengthy injury profile appears to show no signs of abating any time soon.
The Black Cats have been forced to operate without at least seven expected frontline stars so far this term, but still pulled off a 3-0 home win over Scunthorpe at the weekend.
Striker Josh Maja was deployed as a loan forward against the Iron and may well reprise that role for the Gillingham trip.
Max Power and Chris Maguire also found the net on Saturday and should also feature again.
