Ramos: I gave the penalty to Benzema to be a good teammate and to be unselfish

Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid exit has resulted in Sergio Ramos becoming the club's designated penalty taker for the 2018/19 season, but after scoring one spot kick on Sunday evening the captain passed on his duties to Karim Benzema when another arose.
Benzema is the second in line to take penalties since the Portuguese's departure and Ramos explained that he gave the chance to the No.9 as a show of companionship.
"I'm the first taker and he is the second," he said after the comfortable 4-1 win away at Girona.
"You cannot be selfish, you have to show companionship."
The defender dispatched his own penalty with a swagger and, after a stuttering run-up, he clipped the ball into the roof of the net in a Panenka-esque effort.
"It was totally improvised," he added.
"It's a technique that I've used for some time and goalkeepers usually know it, but it was a good opportunity to do it."
Benzema also scored his, as Real Madrid raced away to victory.
