REAL MADRID have the funds to sign a Galactico next summer - and may even be able to afford two!

That is the claim coming out of Spain tonight after a study into Real Madrid’s finances.

Spanish newspaper AS have crunched the numbers of the Bernabeu club following the treasurer’s report being released.

And the conclusion is they would be able to afford either Neymar or Kylian Mbappe if president Florentino Perez decides to make a move.

According to the report, Real have at their disposal “£169m (€190m) plus credit of £162m (€182m) at a highly competitive variable rate of interest”.

And AS claim president Perez could well use the cash available to pay for a new superstar signing.

Perez has been at the heartbeat of Real Madrid’s two Galactico eras.

Back in 2000 he triggered the mega spending with the arrivals of Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo, Ronaldo and David Beckham.

The £80m signing of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 began a new era of mega spending, with Kaka, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez following the Portugal international to the Bernabeu.

Real endured a frugal summer to their standards this year, with new manager Julen Lopetegui spending a combined £70m on Thibaut Courtois and Alvaro Odriozola.

The aim was to land either Neymar or Kylian Mbappe from PSG during the off-season but neither deal could be orchestrated.

AS claim Perez is on the hunt for a new Galactico despite the president wanting to plunge the club into £515m worth of debt to finance the redevelopment of the Bernabeu.

The report notes that Real also have outstanding payments to fulfil, including £8.9m in the next three months and £44.1m in the next five years.

Their wage bill across the club also reaches £356m. However, Perez is supposedly confident the club can balance a loan for the stadium and still play at the top table in the transfer market.

Neymar seems the more likely choice of target were they to go for one of PSG’s top stars next summer.

After all, the Paris club paid £200m up front to prise him away from Barcelona and he is seven years Mbappe’s senior.

The latter is seen as having huge marketing potential, especially after his exploits with France at the World Cup this summer, and is now PSG’s most prized asset.
