Eden Hazard looks set to snub Real Madrid for a new deal at Chelsea

Hazard had been stalling on signing a new deal amid a flurry of speculation linking him to Real Madrid, but he is ready to turn his back on the Spanish giants.

Chelsea have been waiting for more than a year for the Belgian star to put pen to paper on a £300,000-a-week contract – but are now willing to go much higher after his impressive start to the new season.

They want to re-open talks before Christmas and are ready to go as high as £350,000 a week if Hazard will commit himself for the next four or five years.

Hazard – who is out of contract in 18 months – currently earns £200,000-a-week and has fallen down the list of the Premier League’s biggest earners.

But the new deal will put him ahead of Paul Pogba, on £290,000 a week at Manchester United and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, who picks up £306,000 a week.

It will even eclipse the Premier League’s best paid player Alexis Sanchez, whose basic wage at Old Trafford is £315,000 a week.

Hazard has been on fire this season, and has seven goals from nine games in the league, with three assists.

The Belgian’s goals have seen Chelsea second in the league, two points behind Manchester City.

On this form, Blues fans will be more than happy to see their side break the bank to secure his services, especially with Madrid sniffing around.

This week, Hazard admitted he would be happy to see out the rest of his career at Chelsea, the club he joined from Lille in 2012.

"I can finish with Chelsea,” he told Sky Sports.

"No problem at all. I am very happy with this club, with the team, my family is happy here.

Should Madrid fail to land Hazard, they could move for Mbappe or Neymar

"So, if I don't go to Spain, it is not a problem.

"I love the fans — I think the fans love me! What happens in the future, I will be happy, so that's it.”

Madrid are keen to sign Hazard as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club for Juventus in the summer.

The Spanish giants are known for their big signings, and could be tempted to go back into the transfer market for Hazard if he does not agree a new deal.

Should their deal for Hazard fail, Madrid are also reported to be looking at Paris Saint-Germain duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
