Eddie Nolan could return to the Crewe starting line-up for the first time since September against Carlisle in the FA Cup.
The former Preston defender has been sidelined for two months with a calf injury but returned as a second-half substitute at Northampton last time out.
Manager David Flitcroft is considering changes for the cup clash following back-to-back Sky Bet League Two defeats.
Chris Porter and Nicky Hunt are among those pushing for starts.
Kelvin Etuhu will be missing from the Carlisle squad.
The midfielder looks set to be on the sidelines for two or three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Captain Danny Grainger marked his return from a calf injury with a goal against Newport last weekend and will keep his place.
Of Carlisle’s loan players only Regan Slater of Sheffield United has permission to play, leaving boss John Sheridan with a thin squad to choose from.
