Plymouth loanees Matt Macey and Stuart O’Keefe cleared for FA Cup action

Plymouth manager Derek Adams has vowed to pick the strongest team he can for Saturday’s FA Cup first-round clash with League Two Stevenage.

Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Macey and Cardiff defender Stuart O’Keefe will be able to play under the terms of their loan agreements, although Adams will be without a host of other players.

Midfielder Gregg Wylde is being assessed after he missed last Saturday’s 2-0 League One defeat by Sunderland with an ankle injury, but defender Ryan Edwards is out as he deals with the after-effects of a chest infection.

Scott Wootton is progressing after a setback in his recovery from a thigh problem, while Joe Riley, Gary Sawyer and Ryan Taylor are working their way back towards fitness.

Stevenage boss Dino Maamria is likely to revert to his strongest team after making eight changes for the midweek Checkatrade Trophy defeat by AFC Wimbledon.

However, two of those changes saw keeper Paul Farman and striker Danny Newton return to the starting line-up after injury.

Farman had missed 10 games with a hand injury, giving Seny Dieng his chance, while Newton was used as a second-half substitute in last Saturday’s 3-2 league win over Oldham after sitting out the previous three matches with a knock.

There were also starts for young midfielders Terence Vancooten and Emmanuel Sonupe, and they will hope for further action.
