Quique Setien asks Busquets for his shirt

Barcelona's domestic campaign suffered a stutter on Sunday as they slipped to a 4-3 home defeat to Real Betis, yet the coach of the Seville club, Quique Setien, got the bonus of successfully asking for Sergio Busquets' shirt.

The Spanish coach has never hidden his admiration for how the Blaugrana play football, even trying to replicate such a style in his coaching jobs to this point.

In several interviews he has recalled just how Johan Cruyff reshaped the Catalan club and how that team gave him the inspiration to develop a style of play that we're seeing from Real Betis currently and Las Palmas before them.

"It was clear to me when Cruyff's Barcelona appeared that you have to throw yourself behind the ball and spend 80 minutes running," he explained in an interview with El Periodico.

"You want to press but you never get the ball, I told myself that this is what football is like.

"I started watching football in a different way and I understood the essence of the game."

Busquets has long been a reference point for footballing purists, especially those who enjoyed the achievements of Pep Guardiola's team from 2008 onwards, and Setien is no different.

"What you have to do is play with your head, not with your feet or your heart," he admitted.

"I immediately think of Busquets.

"He's an incredibly intelligent footballer and is constantly reading the game."

Prior to Sunday's encounter, the pair met in the tunnel at the Camp Nou and the television cameras caught both Setien and Busquets smiling and wishing each other luck.

Movistar caught the audio of the conversation in which the former Las Palmas coach told the midfielder he wanted to take his shirt and frame it.

As has been made clear on social networking websites in the hours since the final whistle, the Spanish international signed his shirt and penned a personalised message to Setien before passing the gift onto Real Betis' media personnel.

"For Quique with appreciation and admiration for your way of seeing football," the message read.
