Ronaldo, 33, stunned the footballing world after leaving Real Madrid in the summer for Juventus in a £100m transfer.

He had just helped Los Blancos to a third consecutive Champions League title - a feat not managed since Bayern Munich from 1974 to 1976.

But the former Manchester United forward has been in fine form since swapping life in Madrid for Turin.

Ronaldo has scored 10 goals in Serie A as Juve top the table, level with Genoa revelation Krzysztof Piatek heading the goalscoring charts.

And the Portuguese superstar is aiming to win his sixth Ballon d’Or, which would be a record feat.

But standing in his way is a host of elite stars including Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah.

Ronaldo’s former team-mate Modric is the favourite to win the award after a stellar year with Real and Croatia.

The European country made their way to an unlikely World Cup final with the ex-Tottenham midfielder playing a key role in that run.

They eventually lost to France, who have Antoine Griezmann and Raphael Varane in the running for the award.

But Sky Italia have revealed the true positions of the final standings, and Ronaldo will not be happy.

Modric will win the award, while Ronaldo will follow in second.

Atletico Madrid ace Griezmann will complete the top three, meaning there is no place for Messi.

Meanwhile, speaking recently, Ronaldo admitted he was eager to win the Ballon d’Or again.

"I said many times, winning a sixth Ballon d'Or is not an obsession," he told France Football.

"And I do not ask the question in these terms. I already know, in my heart, that I am one of the best players in history.

"Of course, I want to win this sixth Ballon d'Or! It would be a lie to tell you the opposite. I work for that.

"As I work to score goals and win games without it being an obsession.

"I think I deserve it this year… Yes, I dream of winning the Ballon d’Or for the sixth time and passing, in this case, Lionel Messi."
