Chelsea and Arsenal in pole position to sign Denis Suarez

Denis Suarez will leave Barcelona in the January transfer market and Premier League pair Arsenal and Chelsea are the two clubs in pole position to sign him.

The decision was taken this week for the player to depart the Camp Nou in order to find more regular playing time, with it being clear that Ernesto Valverde doesn't count on him as being a consistent first team player.

Denis has already expressed his desire to find a new club this winter while the club and Valverde are willing to let him move on, provided there is a satisfactory offer on the table.

As things stand, the London duo are thought to be leading the race for his signature and there has been contact between the respective clubs and the player's representatives.

Although there are other teams interested in him, Denis himself has focused on the Chelsea and Arsenal interest and expressed a preference to move to one of the two.

Before joining Barcelona, Denis Suarez spent time with Manchester City and he is keen to return to the Premier League and Barcelona are confident that they can receive a higher transfer fee from a club in England.

With 18 months still to run on his contract, the Catalans are only looking to receive an offer of around 10 to 15 million euros, though no offers have been tabled yet.

Should they manage to move him on for an amount in that region, his time at Barcelona proved profitable for the club, with them having spent five million euros to both Manchester City and Villarreal for his services.

Interest closer to home is also present, with Valencia keen on the player and he is someone that Marcelino has admired for some time, though the instability of the Los Che coach makes a Mestalla switch less than unlikely.

Serie A's sleeping giants AC Milan are another who have declared their interest in the player but, due to their turbulent times in recent seasons, Denis has his sights set on London.

Chelsea were the first to emerge in pursuit, but Unai Emery's football at Arsenal is possibly better suited to the player, though he would not look out of place under Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
