Lukaku's second season struggles
25-year-old hitman Lukaku made the move to Old Trafford last summer for a hefty fee of £75 million.
However, following a solid debut campaign in Manchester, during which he notched an impressive 27 goals across all competitions, the Belgian has since majorly struggled to replicate such form to this point in the current season.
All told, Lukaku has managed just 6 goals for the Red Devils, with his all-round centre-forward play having left a lot to be desired.
Lukaku had actually lost his starting berth over the final weeks of Jose Mourinho's reign at Old Trafford, with the dynamic attacking frontline of Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford utilised by Ole Gunnar Solskjær during his debut outing in charge of United at the weekend having painted the picture of a side looking to move forward without a traditional old-school striker.
Juventus links
As such, Lukaku has inevitably been linked with a potential departure from Manchester just 18 months following his arrival.
And, as per the aforementioned report from Calciomercato, one of European football's leading clubs are keeping close tabs on the situation of Belgium's all-time leading goalscorer.
The outfit in question are Serie A giants Juventus.
The Bianconeri currently depend on Mario Mandzukic and Cristiano Ronaldo as their options at centre-forward, but, with the experienced duo now 32 and 33 respectively, the Italian champions will no doubt be on the lookout for a long-term addition over the coming seasons.
And, with Moise Kean still only 18 years old, Lukaku is now reportedly being strongly considered by the Juve hierarchy.
'Everton was perfect'
This is actually not the first time that the Old Lady have been linked with a swoop for Lukaku.
Speaking to the Sunday People back in 2014, the powerful striker revealed that he rejected an approach from Juve in favour of joining Everton:
I thought about Serie A and Juventus because they are a big club. But for me Everton was perfect.'
'I'm here and I'm happy. I don't regret any choices I've made. Everton was the best choice I could make as a young player who wants to progress and develop.'
'This club is a good fit for me. They made so many efforts to get me. I feel at home here.'
