Newcastle midfielder Mohamed Diame is out of Saturday’s FA Cup third-round clash with Blackburn.
Diame suffered a hip injury in Wednesday night’s 2-0 Premier League defeat by Manchester United and will join central defender Federico Fernandez (side strain) and keeper Karl Darlow (elbow) on the sidelines.
Defender Ciaran Clark has recovered from an ankle injury and could return, while there may be chances for Freddie Woodman, Javier Manquillo, Jamie Sterry, Florian Lejeune, Jacob Murphy, Kenedy and Joselu.
Striker Yoshinori Muto is on international duty with Japan.
Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray has received some good news on the injury front ahead of the trip north.
Defender Ryan Nyambe trained on Thursday after missing the last two games due to a hamstring injury, while forward Joe Nuttall also made it through the session after missing the victory over West Brom due to illness.
Craig Conway is back in the squad after coming on as a substitute against the Baggies, while Derrick Williams is set to train on Friday but is unlikely to be available.
Richie Smallwood is suspended after his red card at Sheffield United and Sam Hart is cup-tied, but loan players Kasey Palmer and Harrison Reed are both eligible.
