A Jack Powell brace inspired Maidstone to an important 2-1 win over Hartlepool in the Vanarama National League.
The midfielder gave the visitors the lead inside the first four minutes, placing the ball past Hartlepool goalkeeper Scott Loach.
Maidstone’s lead was short-lived as Jake Cassidy found an equaliser a minute later before Powell netted the winner in the 40th minute, striking the ball past the goalkeeper from close range.
Luke James came closest to finding the equaliser for Pools with his long-range effort which hit the woodwork, while a full-stretch save from Maidstone goalkeeper Ethan Ross denied Carl Magnay.
