Alvaro Morata's agent opens talks with Sevilla over Chelsea exit

As per a report from Spanish outlet AS, the agent of Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has opened negotiations with La Liga outfit Sevilla over a potential transfer.

Morata's Chelsea career

Morata made the move to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017, after being deemed surplus to requirements in the Spanish capital for the second time in his career.

Chelsea splashed out a club-record fee with the potential to rise to £70 million to secure Morata's signature, but the 26-year-old's time in London has since proven far from straightforward.

To Morata's credit, his career in England actually started out in hugely-impressive fashion. The striker took to the Premier League like a duck to water, racking up 7 goals in his first 7 appearances.

However, the second-half of the campaign proved a far more testing affair. All told, between January and the end of the season, the Spaniard managed a paltry 3 goals.

Sevilla bound?

And Morata's difficulties have since carried over into the first-half of the current campaign. Although the former Juventus man has notched 9 goals across all competitions, his finishing and general link-up play have left a lot to be desired, leading to Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri often opting for Eden Hazard as a false 9 of late, relegating Morata to the bench.

As such, rumours have been rampant of late that the Spanish international could be allowed to depart Stamford Bridge this month.

A report from Spanish outlet Marca yesterday suggested that all of Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Sevilla are keen on Morata's signature.

And, as per an update from AS this afternoon, the latter of these sides have today opened talks with the striker's agent.

Juanma López is said to have held a meeting with Sevilla sporting director Joaquín Caparrós, during which the possibility of a loan move to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium for the remainder of the campaign was discussed.

However, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea would be open to such an agreement.
