Stoke City vs Shrewsbury Town - Nathan Jones set to rotate Stoke
Posted Monday, January 14, 2019 by PA
Boss Nathan Jones is preparing to rotate his options for Tuesday’s FA Cup third-round replay with Shrewsbury.
Mame Biram Diouf, who is on compassionate leave, is set to miss out and Bojan (illness), who missed training on Monday, is a doubt.
Jones, who led the Potters for the first time in the Championship loss at Brentford after succeeding Gary Rowett as boss, takes charge of his first game at the bet365 Stadium.
The former Luton boss said on stokecityfc.com: “I need to make sure I evaluate the squad. I would imagine there will be some changes but they won’t be wholesale ones because we want to win the game. I won’t be treating it lightly.”
Ollie Norburn is suspended and Dave Edwards ineligible for League One Shrewsbury, who drew the initial tie 1-1.
Norburn received his second yellow card of the cup run in the original tie, so is banned, while Edwards was not registered in time for the first game.
Doug Loft could feature, with Charlie Colkett back at parent club Chelsea and Bryn Morris nearing a move to Portsmouth.
Lenell John-Lewis faces 12 months out with a knee injury.
