TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - Updates on the penultimate day of the January window as Denis Suarez joins Arsenal, Newcastle look to complete signings and other Premier League sides look to strengthen.

Yannick Carrasco backed for Arsenal

Yannick Carrasco would impress at Arsenal, says Steve Nicol.

He said: “So Carrasco would be a good signing.

“Probably I would think that, he’s in China right now, clearly he went to China for the money.

“But when you go to a place like that, all of a sudden the money doesn’t quite fit the bill, it doesn’t quite make you happy.

“So I think Arsenal are going to get a guy that’s going to come to the Premier League and we are going to see the best of Carrasco.

“The type of Carrasco that was so good at Atletico Madrid.”

Arsenal chasing PSG ace

BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein has delivered a major transfer update for Arsenal fans.

He wrote on Twitter: “Arsenal’s attempts to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan or fellow-winger Yannick Carrasco of Dalian Yifang look to be over.

“But they are still working on Paris-St German midfielder Christopher Nkunku after sealing Denis Suarez deal.”

West Ham reject Javier Hernandez bid

West Ham have rejected a ï¿¡7m offer from Valencia for Javier Hernandez.

Sky Sports have made the claim and say the former Manchester United man is eager to leave the Hammers because of his lack of game-time, and that Valencia are interested in bringing him to La Liga.

Valencia manager Marcelino has stated how Hernandez is keen to join the team, but admitted the situation was ‘complicated’.

Hernandez joined West Ham for ï¿¡16m at the start of last season.

Emile Smith Rowe to leave Arsenal on loan

Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe is reportedly set to join Bundesliga side RB Leipzig on loan until the end of the season.

After an impressive pre-season, Smith Rowe made his senior debut for Arsenal in the Europa League in September.

He then went on to play five more times and scored three goals.

Injury has meant the 18-year-old hasn’t played since November 29.

But in a bid to give Smith Rowe more first-team experience, the Independent say the teen star is on the verge of joining RB Leipzig.

Sunderland eye Ched Evans

Sunderland have set their sights on Ched Evans as they look to sign a new striker before the close of the window.

The striker is currently on loan at Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town from Sheffield United.

According to BBC Sheffield, Sunderland have asked the Blades to recall him from his loan spell.

There is growing optimism at the Stadium of Light that a deal can be completed before tomorrow’s deadline.

Mesut Ozil rejects PSG

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has REJECTED a loan switch to Paris Saint-Germain, it has been claimed in Germany.

The Germany star has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates under Unai Emery.

Following an injury to Neymar, PSG were keen on bringing in Ozil to help lessen the blow of losing the Brazil international.

But according to Suddeutsche Zeitung, Ozil has rejected the French champions.

The 30-year-old has been left out of Arsenal's squad on numerous occasions by Emery this season.

Jack Clarke to Tottenham?

Leeds star Jack Clarke would be the perfect fit for Tottenham says Chris Waddle.

“Jack Clarke has shown great potential at Leeds and would be a good signing for Tottenham,” he told Sportingbet.

“He fits the mould of the type of player Pochettino likes to go for.

“He's energetic, technical and looks comfortable on the ball.

“I don’t think he would come straight into Tottenham's first team and they would probably be looking to loan him out to another Premier League team to see what he's capable of.”

Miguel Almiron pictured in Newcastle

Miguel Almiron has arrived in Newcastle ahead of completing his record move to the club.

Atlanta United midfielder Almiron is set to join the Magpies in a ï¿¡21million move.

The 24-year-old will surpass the current transfer record of ï¿¡16.5m paid for Michael Owen way back in 2005.

Almiron is currently undergoing his medical at St James' Park and will bolster Rafa Benitez's squad as they look to secure Premier League survival.

Denis Suarez to Arsenal done

Barcelona have announced Denis Suarez has joined Arsenal on loan.

A statement on their website read: “FC Barcelona and Denis Suarez have reached an agreement for the extension of the player’s contract with the club, which ended on 30 June 2020, until 30 June 2021.

“FC Barcelona have also agreed a loan deal for Suarez with Arsenal for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.

“The Premier League club will pay the player’s salary during this time and the agreement includes an option to buy.”

Newcastle backed to make three more signings

Newcastle could sign three more players following the arrival of Miguel Almiron, claims Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

Atlanta United midfielder Almiron has arrived in Newcastle ahead of a move to St James’ Park.

But he says they also want Monaco left-back Antoion Barreca and Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris.

“I can tell you Antonio Barreca, the Monaco left-back, is currently en route to Newcastle as well,” Downie said on Sky Sports News.

“That’s ahead of a loan move until the end of the season. Benitez has been very keen on bringing in another left-back.

“On top of that, Andreas Samaris, the Greek international midfielder, there’s talks between Benfica and Newcastle over his transfer.

“That as I understand it also a loan move until the end of the season.”

Manchester United make Kalidou Koulibaly top target

Manchester United have identified Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly as their top defensive target for this summer’s transfer window.

The Red Devils are looking to strengthen at the back having only kept four Premier League clean sheets this season.

According to the London Evening Standard, United have prioritised Koulibaly as their top target for the upcoming summer transfer window above anyone else.

The 27-year-old has been a rock at the back for Napoli over the last five seasons, and very nearly helped the Italian club win Serie A last year.

Liverpool linked with three

Liverpool continue to be linked with Adrien Rabiot, Abdulkadir Omur and Sandro Tonali.

Rabiot has not featured for Paris Saint-Germain since December 11, having refused to pen a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions.

As a result, he has been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Tottenham as well as the Reds.

Reports in Turkey said earlier this week that Liverpool had agreed a deal to sign Omur for a fee in the region of ï¿¡17.5million (€20m).

Ajansspor claimed that the two clubs had “shaken hands” but that an announcement won’t be made yet to prevent any negative reaction from the fans.

Tonal, 18, has also been linked with Liverpool and a deal is possible before the transfer deadline.
