ARSENAL’S hopes of signing Ivan Perisic and Yannick Carrasco are over but a deal for Denis Suarez is done.

That is according to BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein.

He wrote on Twitter: “Arsenal’s attempts to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan or fellow-winger Yannick Carrasco of Dalian Yifang look to be over.

“But they are still working on Paris-St German midfielder Christopher Nkunku after sealing Denis Suarez deal.”

Ornstein later added: “Arsenal pressed hard for Perisic.

“They want loan + option, Inter Milan want permanent or loan + obligation. So #AFC offered to pay a penalty fee if loan doesn’t become permanent.

“No sign of #Inter budging. Far lower numbers & effort in Carrasco pursuit. Nkunku said to be 50/50 #PSG.“

Earlier today, there appeared to be confirmation that Arsenal had signed Suarez when Barcelona released a statement on their website announcing an agreement had been reached over a loan move for Suarez.

But around half an hour after the statement was published, the article had been removed from Barcelona’s website.

Arsenal are yet to confirm the deal themselves but it’s understood the statement was published in error and the transfer will be announced on Thursday.

Perisic emerged as a target in the past week after he handed in a transfer request at Inter Milan.

The club had said they were willing to “satisfy” Perisic by letting him leave.

But Inter were only interested in the sale of Perisic and Arsenal don’t have the funds for a permanent deal.

While Carrasco has been linked with a move throughout the window after an unhappy spell in China.

According to Ornstein’s report, Arsenal’s offer for Carrasco was deemed unacceptable by Dalian Yifang.

But a transfer deadline day deal for Nkunku could still happen.

On Tuesday, the France Under-21 international’s representative Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan claimed the negotiations were complicated.

However, Ornstein says Arsenal still want Nkunku on loan with the option to buy, similar to the deal done for Suarez.
