Suarez Arsenal claim

Spanish football expect Sid Lowe is not convinced Denis Suarez is the game-changing signing some fans are expecting.

"Well I must admit I think a lot of this will depend on what's around him rather than on Denis himself," Lowe said.

"I think Denis Suarez, when you watch him play, he's a guy that will occasionally create something very, very nice out of not very much.

"But he's fundamentally a player who fits well in a functioning team, who moves the ball well, who's positionally and tactically very bright.

"His passing is good, he will occasionally as I say provide assists, occasionally score goals, but not a huge amount of them.

"So I think the doubt I have is whether Arsenal expect him to immediately go in and have a huge impact on everyone around him.

"I think he’s more likely to have an impact as a technical, continuity player, than necessarily a player that raises the level of the entire team.

"So I think a lot will depend on him, obviously, but I think a lot will depend also on how well he fits with those players around him in the rest of the midfield."

Chelsea loan to be made permanent?

AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso is eager to keep Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko on a permanent basis.

"At this moment we cannot do without him, he must remain at Milan," Gattuso told a news conference ahead of Sunday's trip to Roma.

"He is proving technical skills.

"You know that I am not in charge of the finances, but he is certainly giving us fundamental improvements.

"He can become an important player for this club for many years."

Sancho to Man Utd?

Manchester United are considering a summer swoop for £90m-rated Jadon Sancho.

According to the Metro, Old Trafford bosses are keeping tabs on the Borussia Dortmund winger's progress.

The 18-year-old winger has emerged as one of the Bundesliga team's best players since joining from Manchester City in 2017.

Despite Dortmund's sky-high valuation, United are reportedly ready to spend big in the summer.

Hazard to Real Madrid?

Thibaut Courtois has urged Real Madrid to raid Chelsea for former Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard.

"I [would] choose Eden, of course," Courtois said. "I really like him, but the choice is up to the board.

"I do not know what will happen. That is not a question for me, but for the chairman and the management.

"The team is what it is now. Karim Benzema is in a good shape and scored 17 goals. [Gareth] Bale started well, but then had to deal with injuries."

Arsenal failures

Arsenal missed out on three signings on transfer deadline day, according to David Ornstein.

Ornstein told 5Live: “Unfortunately for Arsenal they had hoped to he [Nkunku] would be their second loan signing of the day but it was extremely complicated.

"PSG needed to get a replacement in. PSG needed to sign him to a contract extension which would have protected his value.

"Arsenal would have then needed to agree a deal with Paris St-Germain. Thomas Tuchel, the Paris St-Germain coach, would have needed to accept it without a replacement.

"He wanted Nkunku in his squad and also Tuchel and Arsenal's head of recruitment Sven Mislintat have a frosty history that may have had a political element and ultimately brought this deal down.

"Ivan Perisic was a target of Arsenal, again a loan with an option to buy but Inter Milan had no interest in that. They wanted guaranteed money.

"So that one fizzled out pretty quickly. Arsenal also had an interest in Yannick Carrasco the Belgian international who's playing in China at the moment.

"But their loan fee offer for him was unacceptable in the Chinese club's mind and so that deal didn't materialise either, leaving Arsenal only with Denis Suarez."
