Emiliano Sala: Another club request money from Cardiff and Nantes over £15m transfer fee
Tributes have been made to Emiliano Sala after his plane crashed on his way to Cardiff

Sala’s body was recovered from the wreckage of a plane in the English Channel on Wednesday.

The Argentine’s aircraft had gone down over the Channel last month as he was flying from Nantes to Cardiff.

Cardiff had agreed to pay a club-record £15m to sign forward Sala during the January transfer window.

But they are yet to pay Nantes until "all the facts are clear" about his disappearance.

Nantes have already requested the transfer fee agreed with Cardiff be paid on time and in the instalments set out in the deal.

And now Majorcan side Platges de Calvia are seeking payment.

According to Spanish newspaper Ultima Hora, Platges de Calvia have gone to FIFA to ascertain if they are due money from Sala’s Nantes exit.

Sala played in the youth ranks at Majorcan side Soledat in 2006/07, when he was just 17.

That team was taken over by Spanish third-tier outfit Platges de Calvia in 2016.

And now Platges de Calvia are working out if they are due compensation.

Clubs who see players through their youth set-ups are due development compensation.

And Platges de Calvia could therefore get a cut of the £15m Sala fee.

"If the international rules regarding training compensation are applied then we have a right to receive a fee," club president Armando Perez Costas said.

"As such, we want our legal team to get in touch with FIFA and to determine if there is such a possibility, although we have not demanded or asked for anything at this moment in time.

"I don't know what the clauses were in the contract signed between the English (Welsh) and French clubs, but it's true that there is a transfer that has been signed and a debt between one institution and another."

Meanwhile, Cardiff have asked the Premier League for permission to wear a yellow daffodil on their shirts out of respect for Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson.

Cardiff play Southampton on Saturday and Neil Warnock has praised fans for bringing the “football family together”.

"You've seen tributes from all over the place, from little clubs in the fourth division to the top clubs," Warnock said.

"When something like this happens it brings all the football family together.

"It's a loss to everyone in football. I know we're the closest, but when you see the response from world-class players and the amount of money they were able to raise (for the recovery process) in the space of a few hours was amazing."
