Pep Guardiola left baffled by Benjamin Mendy’s social media antics: ‘Wow. The f**k is that?!’

A bizarre exchange between Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and defender Benjamin Mendy has been garnering plenty of attention online this afternoon.

Mendy's injury troubles

Citizens' stopper Mendy made the move to the Etihad from Monaco in the summer of 2017, for a hefty £52 million.

However, while the Frenchman has since gone on to rack up both the Premier League and Community Shield titles since his arrival in England, Mendy has actually only managed 20 appearances in total in a City shirt.

The powerful full-back's lack of game-time has come as a result of a pair of long-term injuries, with Mendy having first suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament just a month after his move to Manchester, before being forced to undergo surgery to repair a knee cartilage problem last November.

As such, though he has impressed during limited time on the pitch with the Sky Blues, the 24-year-old has become almost as well-known for his social media antics as his abilities as a player over the last 18 months.

'The f**k?!'

And the World Cup winner's latest piece of social media activity very nearly landed him in hot water with his manager this afternoon.

Taking to Instagram this morning, Mendy posted the following to his story, suggesting that he was in Hong Kong:

News of the stopper's supposed location was then revealed to Pep Guardiola during a press conference, with the City boss having quickly revealed his bemusement:

Guardiola went on to confirm that he was under the impression that Mendy was actually in Paris, and that it would 'definitely not be ok' if the Frenchman had ventured to Hong Kong without permission:

However, any confusion surrounding Mendy's exact whereabouts has since been cleared up, with the stopper himself having taken to Twitter a short time ago to provide some clarity:
