John Rooney makes Aldershot pay the penalty

John Rooney’s last-gasp penalty earned Barrow a 2-1 Vanarama National League win at home to relegation-threatened Aldershot.
Wayne Rooney’s younger brother kept his cool to convert from the spot after team-mate Josh Kay had seen an earlier penalty saved.
The visitors, with just one win to their name since early November, fell behind in the 32nd minute as Dior Angus headed home a Lewis Hardcastle cross at the near post.
Barrow went close to doubling their lead on the stroke of half-time as Hardcastle’s 30-yard effort came back off the bar.
But the visitors levelled in the 58th minute when Adam McDonnell beat his man and sent a low shot arrowing into the bottom corner.
Barrow were handed a chance to restore their lead in the 85th minute when Kay went down under the challenge of Alex Finney to earn his side a penalty.
Kay took the spot-kick, but Jake Cole kept it out and then Dominic Bernard blocked the rebound.
But, just as Aldershot looked set to hold on for a hard-fought point, Barrow were awarded another penalty deep into stoppage time for handball.
Rooney took the responsibility this time and sent Cole the wrong way to seal a dramatic win for Barrow.
